LiberKey Portable Applications

by Daljit Dhadwal

A portable application is a program that can be run directly off of a USB key (this definition isn’t completely accurate though). Portable apps are great if your workplace computer is locked down and you’re blocked from installing software. LiberKey is a system for managing hundreds of portable applications for Windows computers. LiberKey and all of the programs are free.

Some highlights include:

  • WinMerge is a visual text file differentiating and merging tool for Windows. It is highly useful to determine what has changed between project versions, and then merge changes between versions.
  • ColorPic is an advanced color picker utility. It supports various color models and is able to pick colours from anywhere on your screen. Accuracy on pixel level is even made easier with the built-in screen magnifier.
  • Balabolka is a Text-To-Speech (TTS) program. All computer voices installed on your system are available to Balabolka. The on-screen text can be saved as a WAV, MP3, MP4, OGG or WMA file. The program can read the clipboard content, view the text from CHM, DjVu, DOC, EPUB, FB2, HTML, ODT, PDF and RTF files, customize font and background colour, control reading from the system tray or by the global hotkeys.
  • PDFTK Builder is a graphical interface of PDFTK making it much easier to use. It features: merge PDF documents; split PDF pages into a new document; rotate PDF pages or documents;  decrypt input as necessary (Password Required);  encrypt output as desired; fill PDF forms with FDF data or XFDF data and/or flatten forms;  apply a background watermark or a foreground stamp; and much more…
